Udaipur - Unleash Your Royal Self

Well when thinking of Rajasthan, what comes to your mind. The royal legacies or the sumptuous cuisine, whatever may be the case just know Udaipur is sure to fulfil your royal desires and the thirst for good vegetarian or non-vegetarian food.

It depends on you whether you would like to visit the place over a weekend or would like to spend 4-5 days visiting the nearby cities as well.

Udaipur has rich heritage culture and is tourist-friendly, hence anyone going comes back with happy memories. Personally, I visited Udaipur to celebrate New Year’s eve with friends, and to date remains memorable.

Travel mode:
By Air: Delhi to Udaipur the travel time is 1 hour 15 mins. And if booked in advance the ticket price would range from 3000-6000 INR. Fortunately, there is an airport in Udaipur itself by the name: Maharana Pratap Airport
By Road: The distance between Delhi to Udaipur is 672 Kms and takes approx. 11 hours of travel time.
By Railways: Traveling by railways is preferred if you like trains. It’s just an overnight journey.
- Trains for Udaipur start from Delhi Sarai Rohilla railway station and reach Udaipur city in the morning.

Gives you ample time to check in the hotel, relax and start your day tour.

Must visit places
Udaipur City Palace: must-visit for the most scenic views and for your next Facebook profile picture and Insta reels.
Bagore Ki Haveli: Must see the night show dance by locals.
Lake Pichola: Can try a boat ride at Jagmandir
Early morning Sunrise in Karni Mata Temple
In case you are planning for 5-6 days: Add these places to your list
Chittorgarh: 1 hour 50 mins from Udaipur. One day trip to witness the grand Chittorgarh fort. Even Bollywood movies has been shot here.

Kumbhalgarh: 2 hours from Udaipur. One day trip to the fort which is the birthplace of magnanimous Maharana Pratap.
Mount Abu: It is 165 km drive from Udaipur, and it takes 2-3 hour drive to reach Mount Abu. The best route to reach Mount Abu from Udaipur is: Udaipur > Sukher > Gogunda > Dang > Swaroopganj > Abu road > Mount Abu.
Must try eateries and this local cuisine
Hari Garh Restaurant: Famous for laal maas (mutton curry) and lake view
Local cuisine: Poha and pyaaz kachori (Onion deep fried stuffed bread)
Daal baati Churma (stuffed lentils served with a sweet powder)
Restaurants serving authentic Rajasthani thali

Tips & Tricks: Rajasthan is hot during the day (spl. March-Sep) and cools at night being the desert area. Hence, in case you plan to visit in summers ensure to stay indoors during the day and plan for the outing in the evening. Always keep a water bottle, drink coconut water, lemonade or desi ganne ka juice (sugarcane juice) to stay hydrated.

Seriously, if you love to explore the local India and love exploring. Udaipur should be on your list, be it for food, heritage or nature.

Share your experiences.

Happy Travelling!
